A New Cousin For The Girly-Q's

My baby sister Jamie and her husband are expecting their first child in late Feb. next year. Charlotte will be so happy to get another cousin and it is such great timing too since this baby and Savvy will only be about 8 months apart. It's too bad they live all the way down in Mississippi....but we are thrilled to get this news and wish them the best! Hopefully she will scan a picture of her ultrasound so we can post that with the results on the gender soon. :)

Also, school is in full swing again. I met with my professors and we decided on a quicker track for my education....instead of finishing a Bachelor of Music I will get a bachelor of Arts in Vocal Music, (finishing in December) and start the master's program in the spring. Adam and I were really excited to get this news because it means that they have funding for me and it means I can get done faster. The outcome all depends on how well the girls do at Basic Beginning's though. Charlotte is of course thrilled to be back in pre-school, but if Savannah has any problems I will put my education on hold. Anyway, that is the plan for now. So far it is going great. It is only day four, but that is still a good sign. They are just there in the mornings, so it a nice change of scenery for us all. Leaving Savannah has gone a lot smoother than I anticipated. (thank goodness) It still is the hardest thing to leave your own child....especially when they are so young but she is very doing well adjusting to this new schedule and loves her care takers. It really is a comfort to see things fall into place.

I better get back to my homework actually.....every moment this baby is sleeping is just barely enough each day for me to finish my to-do list for my classes. I am back to having no down time at all...it is so great!

Baby Girl Blessing

I love baby blessings. They are so sweet and special. I am so happy that Adam holds the priesthood for many reasons and this being one of them. Thank you to all who attended.

Precious Girls

And life is now running me over rather than passing me by. :) Two weeks ago I took Savannah to the doctor for her 1 month weigh in. I did it while Charlotte was at preschool and also ran some other errands to Wal mart etc. Well....I thought I had accomplished much and was proud that I could then take it easy the rest of the day. Well....planning does no good for a mother some days. When I picked up Char, she had a major rash all over her body (mostly where her clothes touched...but it was spreading too) If you look closely you can see it on her arm in this picture of her near the swing. 

    She said her back itched...so I called and made an appointment with her doctor for the afternoon just incase (it was a Friday). Before I even got to the office her doctor called to talk to me about Savannah's recent trip to the Ft. Collins hospital for an ultrasound. She had some concerns about Savvy's hips popping....the results were normal (thank goodness) and she was just calling to explain it to me. I told her...."well, I will be in there in about 15 minutes for my other daughter so we can chat then." We had a laugh and proceeded with that. Of course I then had to visit Wal Mart's pharmacy after the doctor prescribed an allergy medication. So if you are counting...that is two trips to Wal Mart and the Pediatricians office in one day. This must be the norm for a mother with multiple children (and I   only have 2). 

    As long as my girls are healthy I am good to go....so no complaints here. By the way, I believe the allergic reaction was to our new fabric softener because I had just switched to using it. It smells so good and I am so bummed I cannot use it anymore.....if anyone wants a huge bottle of Ultra Downy Simple Pleasures you are free to come grab it. :)

    I also have to say how sad I am that this was our last visit with our doctor Kathryn DeHart....she moved last week and I am so sorry to hear that. I really enjoyed her.....she was there for Savannah's birth, she took care of Charlotte's burns a few years back and has been such a wonderful pediatrician to my girls and the community. I guess we will be seeing Paula (the RN) more often (which is fine cause I love her too) and meeting a new doctor in the future. 

The Hughes Gene

  It has only been 6 weeks but it looks like this little kiddo has a bit of the Hughes gene in her. Maybe it is just the crooked smile in the second picture here, but I think I see it in the eyes too. Even with dark hair and eyes she looks a little like Janna's kids and my Dad put together. Now if she could just have freckles when she grows up. :) Some other news to report......Savvy loves her baths now...(it is nice that she is no longer screaming bloody murder during them). Hooray for the small things!

       Also, the other day my friend came over to cut our hair one last time. She gave Charlotte her first haircut a bit ago...but this visit she gave her a trendy little trim in the front of some side bangs. They look great! I am really going to miss Alicia....she is my favorite little character and fabulous at hair too! 

      These girls are really keeping me busy!!!!! Thank goodness my Mom and Grandma are coming for Savvy's blessing which takes place next weekend. Sherman Hill ward...come join us!

Score...Girls=3 Boys=1

Here she is....

She arrived a week ago via stork and enjoys being with us so far. We LOVE having her around. She is a sweet baby and eats really well. She also travels well......I have had to leave the house for many errands the last two days and they have gone smoothly. I just take my time and don't over do it. My sister comes tomorrow to help for 5 days. We haven't seen her for two years so I am very excited to have her. I know it will be hard for us to part next Tuesday but I guess that is what growing up is all about. (And flying in from New Orleans is not a cheap expenditure) Anyway.....we welcome the new arrival of Savannah Lyn Erickson. 7 lbs. 9 oz. 19 and 3/4 in. She has a full head of hair and looks just like Charlotte did. She arrived at 3:53 p.m. on June 11th, 2009. It is great to be a family of four!

Last Days of Glory

Charlotte is getting our FULL attention and is loving the quality time that she is able to spend with her Mommy and Daddy before the arrival of her little sister. She better eat it up now before that goes out the window.

Well, it 's final! My classes are all done and so I now have time to breathe! (Too bad Charlotte asked me to go back to school the other day when I went to pick her up from preschool.....sad) I was able to change her mind quickly though as I offered the "red park" (Washington...I love that kids have funny names for everything.) :) She and I go to the park as often as we can, or on rainy days we play pretend in her bedroom and giggle. It is so fun to not have to watch the clock most days.

We just recently pulled out her baby swing and in the box we found the blanket Aunt Ginger made for her when she was born. She was so excited that she went in her room and brought me out her scarf and plush toy zebra that matched. This made her very happy. I was just thrilled to see this blanket again. It is my favorite (I am partial to zebra print) and it is from her Auntie which makes it even better.

This other picture of her in the Tinkerbell costume took place after church on Sunday. Believe it or not...this was the first time I have every seen her want to play dress up on her own. Usually it takes a friend or adult to ask her if she's interested, otherwise...it is blocks, cooking or coloring that she prefers. I am shocked that she may be coming out of her "tom-boy" phase. (She has recently been stuffing things in her shirt and calling it her baby...plus she has a Cabbage Patch named Savannah and she takes care of her pretty well)...so there is hope that she will be girly at some point. 

There has been SO MUCH rain here the last 3 weeks that I let Charlotte begin wearing her rain boots to school. She got these for her birthday this year and just LOVES them (thanks Aspen) but they are a bit big still. Although, I thought we would give them a try since the rainy season doesn't stay forever and Charlotte gave this face of amazement when she put them on. She absolutely loves clonkin' around in those cute things.

I have begun to switch around Charlotte's schedule a little and let her take showers in the morning now. First of all, she has just started the shower thing and she just LOVES how grown up she feels when we let her take one. Second, she has always bathed at night (and I have always been pretty adamant that this happens EVERY NIGHT) but once in a while now she will be taking a shower and getting ready in the mornings with her Mommy. I thought I would take a photo opportunity with the first official shower/blow drying of the hair (she wanted to do it by herself....Miss Independent) 

Lastly, I had to take a picture of the domestic projects I took upon myself on Saturday. I claim to not know how to sew but I never realized that I could put together baby blankets so easily. Thanks to my mother-in-law I was able to whip out these cute flannel blankets with matching burp cloths. It felt good to use a sewing machine successfully and make something homemade. This gives me confidence to move onto larger projects too.....which I am starting soon with my friend Page...she will be helping me with the girls' Halloween costumes. I know it is super early but JoAnne's was having a sale when we were down in Ft. Collins last and we couldn't resist. I am going to match the girls also and so will Adam. It should be a very Be-Boppin' time. :) I am grateful for talented friends and family who are willing to share their time teaching me and making me a better person. Boy can I always use that!
